Maria B knew exactly what she wanted her business to stand for when she left the esteemed Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design (PIFD) in 1998 with her diploma. She aimed to defy conventional wisdom and inject life and passion into the nearly nonexistent designer retail business. And she did it just that way.

Maria's only goal when she founded MARIA.B in 1999 was to offer ready-to-wear clothing that expressed an attractive fusion of East and West. The company initially had one retail location and a tiny stitching unit. Today, MARIA.B. is Pakistan's best-known designer fashion brand, offering pret wear, couture, formal wear, lawn, embroidered fabrics, linen, and cotton all under one affordable label. The company also boasts a vast retail network, with 25 locations in 12 different cities across the nation, including both standalone stores and mall locations. It also exports to countries like India, the UK, the USA, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
